A Bradley Classic
“A Bradley Classic” Marching Band Competition was held on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at Bradley Central High School: 1000 South Lee Hwy, Cleveland, TN 37331.
This year, “ABC” was a US Scholastic Band Association (USSBA) Silver Star Competition. USSBA was formed in the fall of 1988 to provide high school band programs with a competitive circuit featuring the best adjudicators from across the country, and is now a part of the Youth Education in the Arts (YEA) Organization.
Due to inclement weather, stand-still performances were held in Jim Smiddy Arena on Bradley’s campus.
Several bands from Tennessee and Georgia competed in “ABC” this year:
Cenntennial High School – Franklin, TN
Dade County High School – Trenton, GA
Fred J. Page High School – Franklin, TN
Hixson High School – Hixson, TN
Rhea County High School – Evensville, TN
Ridgeland High School – Rossville, GA
McMinn County High School – Athens, TN
An exhibition was also presented by the Bradley Band of our 2009 show “Music from Carmen.”
Thank you to all bands who came down to compete with us this year, and thank you to all those bands’ friends and family who support their students’ experience in music and the arts!
Stay tuned for information on next year’s competition! It will be independently run by the Bradley Central High School Band Boosters, and it will be held on Jimmie Lovell field in Bear Stadium. The field is always maintained and groomed to perfection, and the stadium holds several thousand spectators.
